Vibe Coding for Training and L&D Masterclass

Build working learning interactions and internal tools without a development background

About this masterclass

What this session covers

AI can now write functional code from a plain-language description. For L&D teams that means custom drag-and-drops, calculators, job aids, and browser tools you would previously have scoped, budgeted, and waited for. This session is a hands-on build, not a demonstration.

This masterclass is practical and hands-on rather than technical. Over 2 hours of live virtual instruction you will work through the outcomes below, using one interaction or small tool you have wanted to build as the raw material.

Learning outcomes

You’ll leave able to

  • Describe what you want precisely enough that an AI produces working code on the first or second attempt.
  • Build a functional learning interaction — a drag-and-drop, sorting activity, or knowledge check — from scratch during the session.
  • Iterate and debug by reading what broke and asking for the right fix, with no prior coding knowledge.
  • Publish or embed what you build into your LMS, authoring tool, or intranet.
  • Judge when a custom-built tool is worth it and when an existing product does the job better.

Audience

Who it is for

People who hit the limits of their authoring tools and want to build past them:

  • Instructional designers and eLearning developers
  • L&D teams without developer support
  • Learning technologists
  • Operations and admin staff who want small internal utilities
  • Training managers scoping custom builds
  • Anyone who has been told “that would need a developer”

Less suitable for experienced developers looking for advanced software engineering practice.

Tools

Tools used

Platform-agnostic — any assistant that writes and previews code will work. For hands-on activities, bring:

  • Claude
  • ChatGPT
  • Google Gemini
  • Microsoft Copilot
  • Another approved platform, plus a current web browser

No local development environment, installation, or hosting account is required.

Before you join

Prerequisites

No programming, data-science, or technical AI development experience is required. Participants should:

  • Have a basic understanding of generative AI
  • Ideally have access to an organization-approved AI account
  • Bring a laptop for hands-on activities
  • Come prepared with one interaction or small tool you have wanted to build
  • Use only non-confidential, anonymized, or organization-approved information during activities
